Question: How long does it take to build a template?
Again, that depends.
For a simple letterhead template built from supplied artwork, we can often supply a first draft within 5 – 7 business days.
For more complex Word or PowerPoint templates with multiple pages or slides, including our design input, we usually supply first drafts within 8 – 10 business days.
We also need to factor in testing, revisions and feedback phases.
Question: What types of templates do you offer?
We design and build a diverse range of documents in templates using Word, PowerPoint, Google Suite, Excel or Keynote, to cater to various needs.
We've built templates for letterheads, resumes, invoices, business proposals, event programs, certificates, posters, menus and more.
Let us know what you need and we can see if we can template it!
Question: How does your process work?
When we send you costs for our templates, we also include an estimated timeframe for delivery of the first draft of a template.
If there are multiple templates in a project, we prefer to get one right first and then base subsequent templates on the first approved version.
A first draft is sent through for testing and review, we make any revisions or explain why elements have been built the way they have and the template is finalised through to approval.
If a template seems complex, we’re happy to do a short online handover to explain any tricky elements or go through best practices for using it.
Question: How do I copy and paste content into templates?
When copying and pasting content from an old document to a new template, there are a few options.
You can retain the formatting of the document it was copied from or you can strip out the previous formatting, leaving text only in the style that the cursor was sitting in when the content was pasted.
The paste options can be seen either by selecting:
We suggest the following paste options:
Question: Will my templates be WCAG 2.0 accessible?
Our team are trained in making documents accessible.
We can update templates to make them accessible but there are two important considerations:
For example, if we supply a template with image placeholders and images are then uploaded without alt-tag text, the resulting document won’t be compliant with accessibility criteria.
Question: What should I avoid when I’m designing a Word template?
For an intuitive and easy-to-use template, it's helpful to take the following limitations into consideration:
Question: What should I avoid when I’m designing a PowerPoint template?
PowerPoint can be quite intuitive, but the following design limitations should be considered:
Question: How do you quote on new templates?
That depends. If you’re supplying us with the packaged InDesign artwork, showing each page or slide in each template, then we can base our quote on the time it will take us to build a template, based on a PDF of the artwork.
If you want us to design and build the templates for you, we need to understand the content elements that you want in each of your templates, so we like to see examples of current templates as well as any branding elements that have been approved.
If we’re working on templates that have already been created, we need to understand what your current issues are and exactly what it is that you need new templates to achieve.
If you can let us know whether the template will be in Word or PowerPoint, supply us with a page or slide count and tell us if you need us to build the templates from supplied InDesign files or if we’ll be designing and building them ourselves, we can give you a ballpark amount.
