Time Zones, Our Unlikely Allies: Bridging the London-Melbourne Gap
Ever tried building a PowerPoint template while your client's dreaming of afternoon tea in London? We did, and it was a ride. Enter Earnest, the London-based design maestros, and their client ATCOM, an e-commerce platform with a PowerPoint dream. Here's how we turned their design artwork into a 17-slide masterpiece.
The Challenge
London and Melbourne – a mere 10,000 miles apart. The challenge? Building a PowerPoint template from Earnest's design artwork without breaking a sweat over the time difference. Surprise twist? The time gap became our unexpected sidekick, allowing feedback at the end of London's day to transform into progress while they slept.
Our Playbook
To tame the time zone beast, we set up a slick system. The morning after Earnest whispered, ‘Let there be a draft,’ it was there, waiting. The goal? Efficiency in every tick of the clock.
The build itself didn’t present us with technical challenges, as the design specifications were ideal for a Microsoft build: using Arial as the theme font, and the recommended six brand colours, supplied in RGB within the artwork. The template also included some icons and layouts based on tables, both of which are simple to use but can be tricky to build into a template. The icons were supplied as vectors, which is the best format for us to convert to an appropriate format for use on PowerPoint.
